Germantown Baptist Church Health Fair

AAHI is excited to share an upcoming event that is taking place in the community!

Germantown Baptist Church Health Fair
Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Germantown Baptist Church, 17640 Riffle ford Rd, Germantown, MD 20874
Cost: Free, Flu clinic and Pneumonia vaccine will charge nominal fees

Free screening/testing, including:
  • Mini cardiovascular screening exam 
  • Blood pressure; Blood sugar (Please fast for 12hrs. for the sugar test, drink water and take your meds); Weight and height check; BMI calculation 
  • Education for: diabetes, asthma, healthy lifestyle, smoking cessation, cancer, osteoporosis 
  • Hepatitis B info/schedule for testing and vaccination 
  • Vision exam; Glaucoma & cataract screening 
  • Arterial blood flow testing-carotids and ankle 
  • Osteoporosis screening
  • Mini dental screening and info for good oral hygiene care
Testing and exams are not intended to diagnose or treat ongoing problems. Please see your physician for appropriate care.

Sart Thai Festival at Wat Thai Washington DC

On September 15th, AAHI participated in the Sart Thai Festival. AAHI provided the Thai community with information on cancer, diabetes, heart health, breast cancer, and local resources. Participants spun our 'Wheel of Health Education' and answered questions on health topics. AAHI enjoyed the event and we would like to thank the Thai community and participants for giving us this opportunity to share information.

3rd Annual Health Fair - Indian American Medical Association (IAMA) of Washington DC and Guru Gobind Singh Foundation (GGSF)

The 3rd Annual Health Fair will provide free health advice from leading physicians. This event is primarily for advice and counseling, not for diagnosis and  treatment of diseases.

Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013
Time: 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Location: Guru Gobind Singh Foundation, 13814 Travilah Road, Rockville, MD 20850
Cost: Free

Free flu vaccines for the first 150 people present.

*First 100 people who pre-register to have blood drawn on Sunday, September 22, can discuss test results with doctors at the Health Fair. Please pre-register by emailing ggsfhealthfair@gmail.com and include your name, age, phone number, and insurance (Y/N).

Teddy Bear Clinic at the Medical Museum

Bethesda Health Reform Forum Rescheduled to September 12

The BethesdaChevy Chase Regional Center forum to discuss the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has been rescheduled for

Cost: Free, registration is not required. 

Residents interested in learning more about the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) are invited to attend to learn more about the impact of the ACA on residents ages 18 to 64.

The forum will provide attendees the opportunity to learn more about health insurance coverage and potential financial assistance available through Maryland Health Connection. The forum is sponsored by the Bethesda Chevy Chase Regional Center and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.

A brief presentation will be provided outlining the key components of the ACA, as well as how one can prepare for enrollment beginning October 1, 2013. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
